Ohioans may have seen a review of this trail
elsewhere, but as a ex-local there are things that need to be written.
Oakwood is in a
city park which inherently means it will be used by many more users
of different abilities then most trails and litigation is of a more
serious concern. That said, I make a biased review that Oakwood is
a perfect place to sharpen skills and one that city managers and park
directors should investigate.
The trail
uses land bordering two eyesores a junkyard and softball diamonds. About
five miles long and always growing it successfully is built amongst
ravines and makes incredible use of available land without giving the
perception of winding back and forth. The original trail stayed west
of the creek but additions have doubled the length and added four creek
crossings and about a mile on the east bank. Oakwood has all the ingredients
-->steep short hills, longer speed descents, a switchback section,
offcamber areas, and even a meadow.
It is the
perfect city trail likely not good enough to make a long trip to get
there but perfect to introduce people to the sport. City Managers and
Park Managers take note this trail and Brighton should be examples of
land management/ usage. Dinner for anyone who can make it up the DARK
FACE!, witnessed by myself of course. Excluding Tucker! Thanks for the
trail my man!!
