This year we decided to try getting everyone into a Bed and Breakfast. Firmstone Manor was where we stayed and what an awesome place it was. It was more like a mansion that was well over 100 years old. Barb was the lady who ran the place and she was a great Hostess. The food was incredible, the rooms were awesome, and the service was fantastic.

"Don't leave me up here on this mountain" - Crash

On friday we all rolled in gradually and went for a late afternnon ride. Some of us hit Heirlooms in Clifton Firge for a bite to eat before the ride. This palce was an antique shop with a restauarant in the back. The food was incredibly good. Who woulda thought?

We started riding around 5pm Friday and climbed about 1000 feet after "shuttling" part way up and then we descended 1400 feet. The word "Switchback!" was yelled out about a hundred times on the way down. After the ride we hit the Cat and The Owl restaurant in Clifton Forge. We all chowed down there and reminisced about the ride. Great food!

"Are we done climbing yet? " - Everyone

On Saturday 17 riders assembled to ride the other side of Douthat. We started by climbing for 6 miles. It was gradual and steady and eventually ended up at this sweet Cabin Overlook. From there it was pretty much all downhill. You could really fly down these hills. Many of them were off camber and had hidden switchbacks that almost spelled disaster for a few of us.

Crash was stabding over his bike minding his own bidness when he starts yelling "Ouch....Oh My God what the hell is that pain..." He then stated he couldn't put any weight on his right leg. Some of us became concerned until he said the pain was coming from his testicle area. He then yelled out "Don't leave me here on this mountain" We really think he was just trying to get someone to massage it for him but nobody stepped up.

For dinner Barb served us up some homestyle Spaghetti and garlic bread. Everybody feasted and then went to the back yeard to sit around the bon fire. Well everybody except "Mr. Night Ride" himself Lavern. He was out cold by 7:30. In order to night ride you actually haver to be awake at night.

"Does this downhill ever end? " - Everyone

On Sunday we went outside of Douthat park and hit North Mountain Trail. Wow this trail was a sweet ridge ride followed by a looooonnngg downhill through a dense forest with a creek running through it. My personal favorite downhill of the trip. This ride was more technical than Douthat but with less climbing since we shuttled up the fire road.

The trail had some cool sections such as Pete's cave and some really cool overlooks. After the ride some of us rode up the fire road to retrieve the cars and some of us waited to be picked up. About half the group did the ride again for a second time. The other half went back to the B&B for some relaxation. Barb served Filet Mignon that night. Awesome! More Bon fire time after dinner. This time a new and improved bigger fire while we all watched glass bottles melt. Now that's serious entertainment!

Monday we all got up at different tmes and went our seperate ways. We were all thankful for the incredible weekend we had just expereinced and can't wait to do it again. Another true epic Spokejunkie trip was in the books.
