I am getting crazy loud howling and small vibrations when ever I apply roughly 25% brake force to my rear brake. Before I get to 25% and after I pass it, the noise and vibration seem to leave. If I just grap a ton of brake I also have no problem.

Does anyone have any idea what in the world is going on back there? Thanks!

what kind of brakes? could be from improper torque on mounting bolts.

I would be checking all mounting bolts on rotor and caliper. The reason you don't feel anything before or after is that there is either too little or much more force/torque so you won't notice. Alcohol works well to clean a rotor and the pads can be boiled.

I had the same problem. I called Avid and one of their service reps told me to clean the rotor and pads with denatured alcohol. I would check the torque on all the bolts as already suggested and clean the rotor and pads at the same time.
The End is rear.

Thanks for the all the help. I stopped by CC today and they suggested that i use sandpaper on the rotors as there might have been a glaze on the surface. I did that and It seems to have stopped but I haven't really riden the bike hard to see. When I have, I will update.

Check the alignment of the caliper. One pad hitting before the other may cause some vibrations. Squeezing harder makes this go away as it is enough to bring both pads in contact with the rotor. This is fractions of millimeters we're talking here, so be as precise as possible with all brake adjustments and parts.

I had a similar problem with a set of Juicy 5's. Eventually got it to quit by switching to organic pads.
