I took off for another exploration ride yesterday; this time solo. My wife and her friend Gabi hiked up the trail I meant to descend, but I was solo for the 4000 foot climb to Engineer Pass and for most of the ride down the singletrack. It turned out the singletrack was hiking-only, so this would be my only trip down. With so much great riding out here I try to abide by the rules. A few pix:

The view up Pakipsee (sp?) Gulch on my climb up:

Clearing treeline at about 11,700'...looking back down the drainage I climbed:

The drainage I would be descending. I took this from about 13,000' before descending to the actual pass:

*gasp*...the pass:

The final bit of singletrack was dinner plate city. The faster I rode the louder the sound of shattering glass resonated:

I wish this were open to bikes, but I can understand the decision to make it hiking only. Rider safety alone is an issue, but when you add in blind, exposed corners you have the makings of some user group disasters. *Sigh*.....always keep exploring.

Great photography. Thank you kindly for reminding me that it has been much too long since last I hiked Bear Creek. Always good to see a couple stunning trail nymphs along the journey!

Those are some awesome pictures. I wish I could live in Colorado instead of Ohio, there seems to be so much to do out there! Some guys on a Jeep forum I frequent posted pictures of their Jeep trip up Engineer Pass and a few other locations around that area. Those views are unbelievable!
