Advocare

https://www.advocare.com/12048393/Store/default.aspx

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you know My wife Jess and I are distributors of Advocare. If you could afford to lose a couple lbs or are just looking to maintain a healthy life style, you should consider it. Ive ordered a bunch of stuff and this is actually what is making me feel better on the ice. I felt like I just couldn’t get into shape this session, even playing 2 times a week. But lately, Ive been feeling great and have lost a few lbs in doing so. Ive been taking the “Well” products, such as fish oils and such. But I will be trying the 24 day challenge starting next week.

My neighbor Marcus who is a fitness trainer and who owns his own gym got me turned on to this stuff. Being that I will be 38 this month and my only exercise is hockey, I thought it was time to start with Multivitamins and fish oils. Seeing that I am feeling much better, I thought I would step it up with the product and give more of it a try.

Also, My other neighbor who knows Marcus has been taking Advocare products for over a year, has lost over 100lbs. He is a college professor, who was obese and very overweight. I still cant believe he lost that much weight. He started with the products and a diet change and started losing weight. Then when he lost enough weight, he started walking the neighborhood. Now he works out at Marcus’s Gym and is still losing weight and keeping it off. Of course he has changed his diet too, but I think the fact that he saw results so quickly, its encouraged him to keep at it.

They also make a product called Slam and Spark, which is identical to 5 hour energy. The spark is just a lower dose of the slam. And at .40 cents a pop a lot cheaper than 5 hour energy and just as effective.

Check out the website. If you order anything, its done via the website. Shoot some of you probably know someone who has tried this. Its been around for ages.

I know everyone is skeptical and I know I was, but that’s why I started small, but now Im ready to step it up.

Thanks for reading. If you have any question feel free to ask. Also, my neighbor Marcus is more than happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

Moose-wolf encounter pins Kenai tourists

SNOWSHOEING: Animals burst from brush just 20 feet from where they were.

Two visitors from Ohio interrupted a life-or-death struggle between a moose and a wolf on a Kenai Peninsula trail this week, but it wasn't until after the wolf gave up the struggle and fled that things took a dangerous turn for the men, according to Alaska Wildlife Troopers.

That's when the cow moose charged the men, forcing one up a tree and the other behind a downed tree to avoid the injured animal. There they waited for four hours, the moose holding its ground the entire time, before help arrived and killed the animal, according to troopers.

Events began Thursday afternoon, when 31-year-old Sean Evans of Toronto, Ohio, and his cousin, Josh Clark, 30, of Scio, Ohio, were snowshoeing out to a cabin at Crescent Lake to spend some time snowboarding. The men came around a bend in the trail and were dipping underneath a fallen tree when they saw a spectacle crashing through the brush toward them from a hill about 20 feet away, said Clark, reached by cell phone Friday.

"The wolf had torn off some skin from the moose's neck and was hanging on its neck. The moose was making awful noises. We kind of looked at each other for three seconds and decided to start moving," Clark said. "The moose was trying to get rid of the wolf, and they started coming down the hill really fast at us. And so we split, we got out of the way, and they started fighting right where we had been standing."

The men told troopers they heard other wolves howling in the woods, though they saw only the one.
They dropped their packs and Clark hustled up a nearby birch tree, while Evans got behind the fallen tree, Clark said. The wolf apparently lost its appetite at the sight of the men and ran off. But the moose, which had injuries to its back legs and its neck, wouldn't leave even after they yelled and threw things at it, he said.

Clark said they weren't armed but wished they were.

"Anytime one of us moved, it kind of charged and paused," Clark said. "I was in the tree. I didn't care. So anytime (Evans) would start making noises, I would try to sort of distract it, because I felt pretty safe."

Eventually, they decided the snorting moose wasn't leaving and called for help. Troopers say they got a cell phone call about 3 p.m. Thursday reporting the men were trapped by the moose along Crescent Creek Trail.

The men had rented the cabin at the lake, which is about 7 1/2 miles into the trail, but they were only about two miles in from Quartz Creek Campground near the Sterling Highway when they got pinned, Chugach National Forest spokeswoman Mona Spargo said. Two troopers and a U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer put in along Quartz Creek Road, she said.

"They tried to snowmachine in, but it's kind of cruddy right now," Spargo said. "They only made it about a half mile and then post-holed the rest of the way."

When they got on scene along a fairly steep ridge, they saw the moose standing at the base of the tree with Clark in it, said wildlife trooper Kenneth Acton, who was among the officers. The men had been trapped about four hours, and the moose, apparently scared, refused to budge, even after a few warning shots, he said.

"They were totally blocked. The moose isn't going anywhere," Acton said. "They'd been hiking and snowshoeing in, so they didn't have all of their cold-weather gear on because of perspiration and all that, and now one's been up in the tree for four hours. I mean, he was visibly shaking, I think not only from adrenaline but from the elements as well."

For the men's safety, troopers decided to kill the moose. They shot it with a rifle, cleaned it and took a shoulder and a hindquarter. A charity got the rest Friday, Acton said.

The men were uninjured in the ordeal and, after packing it out of the trail, were able to get back to their vacation.

"We went to the Sunrise Inn and had some beers and some food," Clark said. "We're going to do some snowboarding and hang out with some friends."

Hiking - Environmental impact

Hikers often seek beautiful natural environments in which to hike. These environments are often fragile: hikers may accidentally destroy the environment that they enjoy. While the action of an individual may not strongly affect the environment, the mass effect of a large number of hikers can degrade the environment. For example, gathering wood in an alpine area to start a fire may be harmless if done once (except for wildfire risk). Years of gathering wood, however, can strip an alpine area of valuable nutrients. Generally, protected areas such as parks have regulations in place to protect the environment. If hikers follow such regulations, their impact can be minimized.[4] Such regulations include forbidding wood fires, restricting camping to established camp sites, disposing or packing out faecal matter, imposing a quota on the number of hikers per mile.

Many hikers espouse the philosophy of Leave No Trace: hiking in a way such that future hikers cannot detect the presence of previous hikers. Practitioners of this philosophy obey its strictures, even in the absence of area regulations. Followers of this practice follow strict practices on dealing with food waste, food packaging, and alterations to the surrounding environment.

Path from Benaoján to Cortes (Grazalema Natural Park, Spain):

Human waste is often a major source of environmental impact from hiking. These wastes can contaminate the watershed and make other hikers ill. Bacterial contamination can be avoided by digging 'catholes' 10 to 25 cm (4 to 10 inches) deep, depending on local soil composition and covering after use. If these catholes are dug at least 60 m (200 feet) away from water sources and trails, the risk of contamination is minimized. Many hikers warn other hikers about the location of their catholes by marking them with sticks stuck into the ground.

Sometimes hikers enjoy viewing rare or endangered species. However, some species (such as martens or bighorn sheep) are very sensitive to the presence of humans, especially around mating season. To prevent adverse impact, hikers should learn the habits and habitats of endangered species.

There is one situation where an individual hiker can make a large impact on an ecosystem: inadvertently starting a wildfire. For example, in 2005, a Czech backpacker burned 7% of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile by knocking over an illegal gas portable stove. Obeying area regulations and setting up cooking devices on designated areas (or if necessary on bare ground) will reduce the risk of wildfire.

Achilles tendon surgery

Has anyone had surgery to lengthen their Achilles tendon and have you been limited in your activity since surgery? Doc says I need my Achilles and plantar tendons lengthened or I'll be fighting life-long foot pain from a tight calf (tried PT for stretching but we can't get them to stretch enough to relieve the pain). I think I'd rather deal with pain than limitations to activities at my age.
